About Me As A Narrator
My dad would often find me on a lazy weekend, on the floor with four or five books laid out in front of me because I was taking turns reading from each. He found it so peculiar that he’d quiz me on them all and try to trip me up.
But nope. I knew these books like they were my best friends, each with its own personality, voice, and wonderful secrets to share. How could I ever mix them up?!
So it was only natural for me to fall into audiobook narration–a bookworm's dream come true. I love all genres of books, but I have a special place in my heart for fantasy, sci-fi, and a good mystery.
With a Japanese mother and an American father, I grew up bilingual, and Japanese culture has always been a huge part of my life. I even studied and performed the Japanese theatre arts of Noh drama (now the world’s oldest surviving form of theatre) and Kyogen comedy. This is why I have a very special love for narrating Japanese and Japanese American stories, such as the Airi Sano series by Zoe Tokushige and the Momo Arashima series by Misa Sugiura
I specialize in first-person narration for Middle-Grade, YA, and New Adult characters and multi-cast productions.
My personal and artistic mission has been about creating inclusive, safe spaces that encourage compassion and empathy. This is why, in addition to narrating, I’m also an audiobook director and a volunteer mentor with the Audiobook Publisher’s Association’s DEI mentorship initiative. When I learned there were few women and BIPOC directors and narrators in the industry, I knew I had to contribute. Studies have shown that reading books from diverse authors and perspectives helps promote empathy and develops critical thinking. Representation is important both in front of and behind the scenes, and I hope to encourage that in my work.
